Happy Friday everyone and welcome back to another blog post? I hope you all had a great week? If you are in Edmonton, then I am sure you have been lapping up this 30 degree heat…OMG it’s HOT!! This week I am sharing a few fun things to do in the Rockies. If you were following along on my Instagram or Facebook, then you would have seen that we spent a few days in the mountains. It was such a nice wee break and we enjoyed every minute of it! It will be the first of many trips down the road this Summer I’m sure!
Obviously there are soooo many things that you can do in the Rocky Mountains, hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping, mountain biking, white water rafting, the list is endless! I am going to share with you the few things that we got up to over our few days away?
Where We Stayed
We stayed in Canmore for three nights in Blackstone Mountain Lodge. This is the second time that we stayed there and it is a really nice hotel. We opted for the suite with the kitchenette as they are so handy when you are away for a few days as you can make your own meals if you want to. There is also an outdoor pool and two hot tubs which is a nice plus?
What We Did Canmore
To be honest, we spent most of our time outside of Canmore town, but we did do the Bow Valley River Loop the evening we arrived. It is an easy scenic walk that is just so pretty!
What We Did In Banff
Another gondola….someday I may actually not be afraid of these because I feel I have been on so many, (three is a lot, right?!) They are always worth it though! We were so lucky every time we went somewhere the weather just brighten up and the rain stopped! So when we went up the gondola n Banff, the weather was perfect! Views for miles?
We also did the Hot Springs, and OMG they are soooooo nice! It started to rain when we were in the Hot Springs, which made it even a little nicer. You won’t spend too long in there though, it gets realllly warm, 39°C warm!
We canoed on Moraine Lake…this will never get old, ever. There really is no place quite like it on earth, it is so beautiful! If you do go, which you should, the place to get the most incredible views, is at the top of the rock face, facing the lake. I could have sat for a couple of hours and just taken it all in! We also went to Lake Louise as it ‘ so close to Moraine Lake, and some of our family had not been there before. As always, during the Summer, it is so busy but very beautiful!
Where We Ate
Two of the best places we ate in were Rocky Mountain Flatbread in Canmore, they have the best-looking pizza’s, but I had pasta and it was unbelievably good! Highly recommend eating there. We also ate in The Wood in Canmore, and it was very very good also although a little be pricer.
And that’s it for this weeks blog post! As always, thank you so much for stopping by.
